before i played this game i never would have thought that a platformer could provoke such an emotional response. celeste is so beautiful, the levels are so well-designed i could be convinced that they were made by some kind of deity. go play this, you don't need anything hefty to run it any old laptop should do the trick.
fun fact: i have died 21,801 times so far and i have not finished all the levels yet

i think i'm the last switch owner on the planet to play this game, but in case i'm not, you should get this game. i tend to shy away from brutally hard games because i'm actually not that great at games, but i got sucked into the story and gameplay of hades so quickly that i couldn't care less about dying 20 times over. i can feel myself improving in every run and yet i'm still challenged each time. incredibly worth it, especially if you catch it on sale (but honestly, even if you don't)

Alice Madness Returns - first played it in my first year of uni at 18 and it became my whole personality, recently replayed it and it basically happened again.
The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood - a recent play and the game that has me considering becoming a game writer
Death’s Door - dark souls for cutie pies. i just find this endlessly repayable because the controls feel so nice for me. Also the first “hard game” I played that convinced me “hard games” aren’t out of my ability.
Final Fantasy X - the first “real game” I played on my ps2 when I was like 10. my friends used to make fun of me for not going out to play after school because I was doing anotber ffx replay.
Shout out to the spyro trilogy and Spiritfarer - the endlessly replayable basis for my favourite kind of gameplay, and the first game to make me cry, respectively.

first video game i ever played. it gets hard and frustrating and you have to throw yourself at certain things over and over again but the aesthetic is so fun and beautiful. kinda like life!

if you start zooming in on a pattern, and the pattern doesn't seem to get more simple as you close in, there's a very good chance you're looking at a fractal shape. my new computer hobby is going on google earth (clean setting - no borders or labels) and zooming into random places to see if i can find these patterns. and they are everywhere. in rivers, mountains, deserts, forests, coastlines and on and on. its genuinely stunning, and a little bit frightening, how the same shapes appear over and over again. the beating heart of iterative processes is plastered all over the globe at every scale. from above, the shape of a forest can look like a leaf, or a neuron, or a blood vessel.
great place to have a zoom is at the bottom of tibet, where theres a sharp cutoff between the icy mountain range and the grassy forests of nepal and bhutan. pic below is of the nile river in southern egypt. happy travels everyone
