My roommate Leo and I now sing our song called ”I do my dishes every day” whenever we do our dishes…. It’s sort of a Gregorian chant with Tritones and harmonies. now when I do my dishes alone I think of it
i think this is a deeply innate part of human life to write songs with the people you live with to recall in regular moments. whether in a family, a partnership, friendship, or roommate relationship it is a sign of healthy bonds and joy.
I once had a roommate who would wash her dishes to “it’s all coming back to me now” every night. She said it was long enough to get through all the dishes. Getting to put on a good song and zone out on some manual labor to end the day
I got these really tiny accordion books last year and I’ve been using them for super long form exquisite corpses- this one has been going since April and just finished today! Friends and strangers all worked on it with me, and now they are all trapped in my little book :-3
Gazpacho only in the late summer, persimmons only in the winter, etc. just because we can import anything from anywhere anytime doesn’t mean we should. Nothing is special if you can have it whenever you want it.
