probably my favourite tech product design-wise. the fact that 23 years later people still keep thinking about it and making modern day prototypes is just mind-blowing to me.

shopping for an ipod classic has made me wonder why i want an ipod classic. it’s something that has one singular function (a function that my phone does pretty well) and i think it’s exactly because of that that i want one. of course, the argument of the nostalgia factor is there, but the simplicity of it all is attractive to me... i would like to focus on the music only and enjoy how tactile and nice the buttons and the build quality is on one of those things… of course in terms of other tech the nostalgia is probably playing a bigger part in it, like using an old iphone for your instagram photos for the grain and lower quality… but i think getting the most life possible out of these things is a really fun and responsible thing to do and it should be more common.

I’m currently Fixated on how beautiful the apple iPod classic lineup was. i got obsessed with Steve Jobs ipod introducing keynotes and i bought myself a 5.5gen for Valentine’s Day. now i can have over a thousand songs in my pocket shoutout to the iPod nano generations those guys too were legitness. i used the 4th gen as a kid highly recommend grabbing one of these, getting some albums off Bandcamp, and going for a walk w ur middle school earbuds in truly timeless devices

Still miss it. Look at that form factor! Smaller than the apple watch today, clip on the back, built with beautiful machined metal. Love that the screen is single app size - Apple Watch is quite bubbly by comparison, doesn't feel the same. The swipe controls were so nice also!! Perfect to clip inside the pocket and put on some headphones. Unfortunately - after many years - the buttons have lost the ability to actuate.

hey! I spent numerous of my birthdays alone, so here's what worked for me 1. make a playlist of your favourite songs. literally every song you ever liked from when you were 10 to now. 2. go to your favourite place, but if you don't have one then just go to a park or a museum. I love people watching while listening to music. 3. book a spa day. that one I haven't tried but sounds fun. spa is better in solitude anyway. 4. eat your favourite food. honestly a game changer lol food is the most amazing thing we as species have created. 5. do something you enjoyed as a kid. painting, blowing bubbles, making sand castles. it makes you feel so good, like you're reconnecting with something that's been asleep deep inside you. 6. if you're not scared to talk to strangers then talk with someone you don't know. at a pub or in a line. could be fun. happy early birthday!
