At my new house in LA, there's a fig tree, and as I was researching about it, I discovered that in the growing process of figs, they rely on fig wasps. The relationship between the fig and the wasp is fascinating. Fig wasps are tiny insects that play a crucial role in the pollination of fig trees. Female fig wasps enter the fig fruit through a natural opening called the ostiole to lay their eggs. In the process, they inadvertently pollinate the flowers inside the fig. The fig tree provides a safe haven and nourishment for the wasp larvae to develop, while the wasp ensures the fig tree's reproduction by transferring pollen between figs. Who knew that! And the fig wasp looks so cute!

Also the wasp gets stuck in the fig because her wings fall off and dies there and the figโ€™s enzymes decompose the wasp within the fig. if itโ€™s a male fig she cannot lay eggs and just dies.

Again, I'm using this category as an umbrella so I can list my favorite movies that I think by watching will make everyone's life better or at least distract you from whatever bullshit is going on in your own life for a moment, and put a smile on your face. Maybe you'll even relate to what the characters in the films are going through and you'll feel a little bit less alone and it will change your life forever. These are my favorite movies that I watch over and over again: An Unmarried Woman, Swingers, Annie Hall, Broken English, Girlfriends. Last Days of Disco, and Hannah and Her Sisters.ย And one of my favorite theaters to watch movies in in New York City is Metrograph. A sanctuary. A safe haven. The programming is extraordinary. And they have a wonderful restaurant upstairs called The Commissary. Run don't walk.

I like having a historical record of the shows I've been to, and I'm sad that many places don't do physical tickets anymore. How do we fix this? Does anyone know a guy?

I've recently moved to LA from Japan, and due to the dry air here, I've been experimenting with various ways to protect my skin. I discovered that eating rice is beneficial for the skin, especially porridge, as it retains moisture from the rice, providing hydration from within. It's also good for digestion. I like to add Umeboshi, a pickled plum, which is great to eat in the morning due to its probiotics and amino acids.

Akihiro Miwa is a well-known Japanese artist famous for her yellow hair and voice work for Hayao Miyazaki's movies. She's 88 years old and survived the Nagasaki Bombing when she was 10 years old. She started singing at 16 in a Chanson bar called Ginpari in Ginza. Besides her art, she's into spiritual stuff and has been hosting a radio show since 2003. I've always been a big fan of her, and lately, I've been hooked on her radio show podcasts. In Japan, they say having Akihiro Miwa's picture on your wallpaper can bring you good luck. Sheโ€™s a big spiritual icon.
