I like organized fun and in the past Ive had my birthday at places like paintball and outdoor movie screenings, but I have no ideas for this year! Iād like to do something at the end of June, so thereās still time to plan and book somethingšš¼
Outdoor dinner/pot luck. Depending on how fancy you want to be you can rent a table and chairs, use some dollar store linens etc.
More generally, I think people just like an activity. Bowling, going to the Zoo, a DIY food tour where everyone picks a spot... can be anything!
I donāt tend to like celebrating my birthday with a group of friends and family (I havenāt since I was 12 and Iām 28 now) - itās too much pressure. I always try to celebrate by curating a day (or two) filled with all the things I love and bring me joy. For example, this year, I went to my favourite bookshop and stocked up on some books, then went to the Lego shop and created a mini figure, then I went bowling, and to my fave Japanese restaurant in the evening :)
i think we should leave begind the idea that there are certain activities that you have to do with friends or are weird to do alone - besides on your birthday there are no rules! here's what i would do with my day: - have a lie-in
- make my favourite breakfast and have a fun drink
- go to a museum/art gallery
- buy food and sit in a park appreaciating nature
- go to the cinema/rewatch a fav movie at home
- buy myself a birthday gift (personally i'm leaning towards getting docs for myself for my bday)
- call my friends/family happy birthday!
and i don't mean drinking at bar
adults need slumber parties and funfetti cakes and going to the amusement park, we're the ones that have LIVED long enough to earn it !!!
Iāve done this every time Iāve found myself between full time jobs and it really makes the whole time better. You have a little money coming in and you can collect material for your future memoir. Some odd jobs from my past: Axe throwing coach
Closet designer
Lunch catering delivery
Balloon bouquet maker
Background extra i found them on big job boards like indeed and also Craigslist (Searching āpart timeā gets you less garbage results). If you hate it after you start you can just quit! Also if you like pets, signing up for dog walking or petsitting will keep you active and you get to hang out with pets.
I love doing this, itās wonderfully disorienting. Theres still so much day left afterwards itās basically a whole new day, like an optical illusion, but of time.
Shopping cart with a bad wheel.
Sock slipping down your shoe.
The day after you burn your tongue when itās still all sensitive.
An eye twitch.
bad toilet paper (thin, scratchy).
clothing tag that itches.
Really strong static shock that makes you jump.
getting perfume in your mouth.
