Or at a gallery. Really just being publicly moved by art because isn’t that the point?

was so so sad last night and found myself at the movies. started sobbing the moment i sat in the chair for reasons entirely unrelated to the film (although it was very sad). kind of relished in it though bc the cinema unlike buses/trains/cafes is like the only public space where you wont be scorned for crying. its the only acceptable place outside of the comfort of your home for you to sit down and have a good wail because everyone will think ur crying about the movie and no one will judge u.

I've been told I'm quite a sensitive person, which is to say, a lot of things evoke strong feelings out of me. But nothing quite does it like a good movie or show. I hadn't realized how much of an effect these types of media had on me, until I found tears rapidly falling down my face, onto the pillow, leaving a stain. This is when I looked over to my person and noticed I was the only one crying. I guess not everyone has these intense feelings all the time, but I found that it allows me to enjoy theses pieces of media so much more; even at the cost of staining things with my unrequited tears.

Sometimes it’s all that‘s really needed before going out

A brief taxonomy of haters, in order of least to most worthy: 1. Contrarian - the worst kind; completely unmoored and childish. Sometimes lobbed as an insult unfairly but not always. 2. The Deranged - just hating on someone or something obsessively, usually deservedly but to the point of excess. I can kinda respect it but at some point you‘re just inflicting psychic damage on yourself. 3. The Principled Hater - a stone in the stream, a person with a vantage point and a sense of taste who understands their own subjectivity. Willing to give anything a fair shake but unwilling to pretend to like something they can’t bring themselves to.

check songkick or other such sites for bands, wander around a neighborhood to find fun spots and thrift stores instead of relying solely on search engines. If you see someone at a gathering wearing something interesting, compliment them on it and ask them where they got it. In short you have to go out in the world and be attentive to it. Sorry if this is corny or useless.
