as a rising senior who wants to go into an animal-related career, im faced w an interesting dilemma- i can either do what i really want to do and become an ethologist, but not earn enough money to take care of myself in the current economy, or try an become a vet to earn a good salary, but sacrifice my mental well-being for something that im not even guaranteed to be good at. capitalism can go choke on my dick
!!! yes ! Iโm a vet tech and Iโve personally already been close with/worked with one doctor who has committed suicide and canโt go through that again, aside from already having my own struggles with mental health
Firstly, same, until I realized how much math and science was involved.
Secondly, this is tragic and Iโve known thereโs such little pay for the work which is bonkers considering itโs $800 for my two dogs to get check ups

mossyelfie ugh the pricing is crazy and its one of those ones where u know they cant rly help it.... like i thought we had a transactional relationship until my vet was crying with me in the carpark about how there was nothing to be done... its getting way better tho

mossyelfie facts, societal and economic systems rlly value profit more than values, and it's so frustrating that even the cost of the most essential services are so expensive nowadays.
i had no idea, thatโs so tragic but its nice that there are initiatives for their wellbeing
