Next time you write something, look back at it after 24 hours.
Try to change any Latinisms to simpler, more Germanic words. (Change āfortunateā to āluckyā, for example).
Try to change passive verbs to active (āwe threw the rockā vs āthe rock was thrownā).
If the word or phrase would be used in a corporate setting, get rid of it (āin terms ofā, ācircle backā, āaction itemsā can be changed to āaboutā/āregardingā, ācome back to thisā, āthings to doā etc.
