to be honest, I never thought I'd ever EVER go back to university, even for skill-based degrees. But here I am, in a country which speaks a completely different language and I'm still learning! Turns out there's always more. Obvious, but sometimes it takes doing to realise this. It has obviously, completely, joyfully, impacted my life. <3

Best decision I've ever made.

I did a 180° academic turnaround when I decided to pick up anthropology (major) and art history (minor) although I'd already finished a bachelor's degree in marketing. I never enjoyed business studies and never gave it my best while at the same time feeling under pressure from my parents because they told me to do it. I got my degree but shortly after felt so empty. So after some thinking I did what my gut feeling told me and that was to go back to uni and finally study what I truly like to learn about – culture and society (in the broadest sense). It's been the most emancipatory decision I've made in my life and now I finally feel like I'm on my own path instead of someone else's. On top of that, I feel really comfortable around the people I study with and they're all really sweet and inspiring. We read tons and learn to deconstruct, reflect and argue, that way acquiring skills and knowledge for all matters of life. And finally I really care about my studies and do well. I'm really proud of that. Full disclosure: While I live in Germany and studying is basically free here I know for most Americans on here it would be much harder financially to extend their studies like I did. Still, if anybody reads this who feels drawn to a social or cultural science and feels unhappy with the more conventional path they took because of external pressure – I hope this encourages you to go where you need to go <3 happy to hear from other people's similar experiences

i loved & miss university, it really helped me figure out some things i was passionate about, have some cool experiences & learn a lot about myself, plus i just love learning and being in school in general (i always say if i was rich enough to not work i'd spend all my money getting degrees for fun), but that being said.... i no longer work in said field nor do i have any interest to at all lol i feel like if you're going to go to college you need to be sure of your field and the possibilities that come from it, or at the very least, go into something broadly applicable and then do as many things as you can (related clubs, volunteering, competitions, whatever) that allow you to explore the field while there. i got a broad degree (comms) but then made the mistake of not exploring enough avenues while in school and wound up locked into one that i didn't like post-grad. tried to leverage my degree to break into fields i'd enjoy more, but with my focused background, it's unfortunately not enough.

Sometimes you try your best and everything seems to hit the fan no matter how much you try, so you take that raincheck and take yourself out for a day.

This is what I call it hahahah made by mums everywhere but the greased up version is sold along stalls in Mumbai. Two regular slices of white bread, buttered, and the middle filling is cream cheese with red onions, coriander/cilantro, tomatoes and some minced chillis. All veggies chopped mini cube size so they blend with the cheese. Toasted crispy.
