I don’t even listen to Gotye but I’ve lost three pets over the past two years (one from old age and two to terminal illness) … after the first one I searched songs about pet death because I was going through it and found this. So I specifically only have listened to this song under those circumstances and have definitely conditioned myself to cry just from hearing it. Tested it just now and it worked :’)
one of my favorite songs of all time. so emotional and beautiful. never heard anything like it. this song also reminds me of someone in my family who passed due to an overdose. i have really fond memories of her, she was practically my sister, and i play this song in her memory all the time 🥹
My dad teases me about how when I was a little kid, my favorite thing to do when I was on the landline phone with somebody—be it a relative or one of my best friends—was to breathlessly describe the things that were in my bedroom so that they could have a mental picture of everything I loved and chose to surround myself with, and where I sat at that moment in time. Perfectly Imperfect reminds me of that so thanks for always listening and for sharing with me too 💌
