1700/1300 = 31% increase total, over 4 years thats 7.75% each year. average inflation over 2020-2024 inclusive is just 4.32%. the only motivation for this kinda stuff is supply/demand leading the landlords to safely assume that there are enough people willing to pay the inflated price that they can eat the cost of pricing out current tentants. rent price isn't cost of ownership/maintenence, it's price manipulation based on scarcity. it's pretty bleak, housing should be a right
sloane_shark lmao we out here!! And yes it’s fucking bananas. Thankfully I’m able to afford this but if I’m gonna keep living here then I have to consider a cheaper place or move in with roommates or something
for a fugly beige 750-square-foot open concept ‘luxury’ shoebox with no bathtub just a shower in a busted suburban office park on the side of a freeway. My neighbors act so rude and entitled to staff that I think they’re under the impression we live at the Ritz-Carlton. In summer they start crawling out of the cracks like cockroaches drinking and loudly cavorting in the shared courtyard outside of my window late at night even on weekdays. But I’m moving in July to a 1,200 square foot 2 bedroom house with a bathtub and an office/sunroom in a walkable area for $1,400 a month 🥰
I split a two bedroom apartment with a roommate. My half is $700. It’s fine and has a nice porch. The management sucks and raises the rent 12% each time there’s a renewal, so they can fuck off. Not a walkable area but my commute to work is excellent. Tired of living with a roommate. I’m going full court press at work to get a raise (which I very much deserve) so I can move into one bedroom where I can recline naked on the sofa in peace.
think about it... incredibly nutritious, more vitamin c than oranges (!!) widely available and affordable so easy to prepare, you can literally steam them in the microwave and delicious! esp when roasted, i linked an easy recipe :) plus they look like cute little trees and you can pretend that you're a brachiosaurus or some shit munching on them greens
straight up goated vegetable
I filed a complaint with a bunch of receipts to my city's rent board last month after my landlord notified me of another increase, and turns out she was in violation of increasing rent within 12 months following a previous rent increase The city just told my landlord to reimburse me the excess rent, and my current rent must remain in place until next March for her to be in compliance (she wanted to raise it another 10% in October lol)
