readers i’ve mentioned prior that i worked the eras tour as a cleaner, and that ive loved paramore since i was nine. but something i did not note yet, due to my inability to comprehend that it actually did happen, is that during paramores soundcheck, hayley took a moment to talk and smile and wave to us while we were “litter picking” the pit. i dare say there are few people who have more impact on my being over the course of my lifetime than hayley williams and her music. i say ”litter picking” as we had actually run out of tasks, and decided to pretend to be litterpicking in hopes of seeing paramore. and boy did we see paramore. i felt like the luckiest girl on earth. and then i got called to clean up swiftie sick.

The first time I saw them live was in a Best Buy right after they were on The X-Factor. I continued to attend their shows until they broke up and was obsessed with them for the entirety of my pre-teen girlhood. Recently I recalled that they were one of the few pop artists at the time who sang about something other than love. A lot of it was about independence and empowering fems. That was really important for us at the time.
