My biggest thing when being in a funk is feeling stuck somewhere, so I force myself to put on some clothes and put myself somewhere new so my mind can follow. @devisthatgirl already covered going on a walk, you could also: - go on a random drive and listen to music/podcasts - go to a craft store - go to a free museum - or literally just find somewhere quiet outside the house - I recommend no scrolling and just sit, smell, listen, look closely at the things around you. I've been there many times - you can do this!! <3

I'm not a poem writer, but I do enjoy creative writing and I've found when I'm facing any form of creative slump going somewhere new is always helpful. Taking a walk and observing the architecture(historical context of the neighborhood), sitting in your local library, a shower/bath, visit a restaurant, a park, take a break and go hang out with friends with a notebook tucked in your bag just in case. Changing scenery always does me wonders.

either going on a hike or just exploring and taking my time somewhere in nature. It helps me to get some perspective and reset. I prefer somewhere with a creek, I like looking at different rocks trying to find ones that have cool shapes/textures/colors. look for national/state forests or wildlife refuges near you! for creative ruts, i’ll do an excercise sometimes where I look for weird shadows or leaves or anything really and try and turn those shapes into characters or just see how my brain reinterprets them. it’s a nice low stakes creative game

I am much more satisfied w myself when I do this every day. Sometimes when my awareness has been compressed into a pop tart sized lcd screen, going outside and looking at the tree canopies can feel like an acid trip. When I'm not making a practice out of it I feel like I've lost the way. poem by Nanao Sakaki: If you have time to chat, Read books. If you have time to read books, Walk into mountain, desert, and ocean. If you have time to walk, Sing a song and dance. If you have time to dance, Sit quietly, you lucky, happy idiot.

i want to know where you came from! how you've changed! how you're doing now! is that really such a crime? is this not why social media exists?

being an adult can get real busy, and I don’t have as much time to see my friends anymore. our solution for this has become a regular debrief night every 1-2 months. here’s the structure: - cook or order a meal together - come in the comfiest clothes - late at night is ideal - prepare throughout the week by building a PowerPoint with sections for each friend detailing important updates/occurrences in their lives (I like to present mine as little stories with pics for reference) - appendix at the end of the ppt of new friends, enemies, and everyone’s “OOO” dates so we can make plans accordingly these nights have come to be some of the best memories for us, and is now something everyone in our circles knows about - anytime something happens, someone asks us “will this/I be in the debrief now?” it’s structured fun and a great way to stay connected with my people. highly recommend if you have the time! (Pic for reference with faces cropped out)
