not super long and and not hard to imagine how they pull it off, but in sing street when the boys play the song "up" the first half of the song is a long shot that circles the room and shows the passage of time between two of the boys writing it together to the rest of the band joining in the next day. i love the song, it has a special place in my heart, and i think it's very sweet!
it's the first scene in the movie where you think "oh these kids are actually making good music!" seeing it start with the boys writing the song, then all of them jamming out together... ayo edebiri put it best on her 2020 letterboxd review when she said "The music is perfect and I love when boys are friends!!!"
Not only is this film magnificent, but this song is elite.
Everytime I listen to it I just smile. It makes me feel young, naive, and hopelessly in love.
It serves as both a distraction from my actual life while also reminding me of positive feelings I hope to rediscover some day.
Go watch Sing Street 🫵
This album will always remind me of a drive in the back of a minivan in Michigan with warm light spilling across the car interior. Recently heard this song in an episode of one of the Long Way seasons which is a rec in and of itself. Maintain the wonder and the love for singular moments in long journeys
