I understand exactly what Joan didion was going through when she wrote that the only thing that gives her any peace in this chaotic unfeeling world is driving on the hot tarmac for hours on end with no one to disturb her.
My senior quote in my high school yearbook was “I know what nothing means and I keep playing”. Truly pierced through me and I think about it every day. Very topical now that I think abt our current political landscape too …. Love Joan down
