using this app as a means to promote the giftings of other humans
I'm constantly amazed at the talent pool that exists on this app. I feel like weekly I bump into new writers or artists or musicians or other misc. talented people. It's worth taking the time to acknowledge and give credit to the people that you enjoy + what they do. I think isthefruitstillgood and slowdazzle are two of my favorite artists on this app. The former does great illustrative work and flash sheets, and latter paints some of the most detailed paintings I've seen in a bit. Also riotgrrrl has a band that's hopefully playing a show soon, and her attitude of enjoying performing for what it is is encouraging and exciting to see. And mouse has made me cry a few times with her music already, so that's a plus. There's also a million other people that are worth mentioning but I'm typing this as my pasta water boils over, oops. When you find talented people on this app (1) promote their work and (2) financially support them whenever the occasion arises.

I love this so so much! Thank you, making people cry with my work is the hugest compliment haha! I agree that this online space feels so full of creative talent. I love that my Substack is full of people from here, and I love that I can post my work here and feel like it will be genuinely appreciated rather than just throwing it into a “self promotion” void. It feels more like sharing it with creative friends and peers. And engaging with and sharing others work is a genuine pleasure rather than feeling like something that’s sort of required for reciprocity or politeness. I guess maybe it’s the nature of this app to attract interesting, talented and what I’d call creatively generous people!

THE LONGING TO COLLAB AND CREATE WITH OTHER CREATIVE BEINGS IS SO STRONG. so unbelievably tired of robot people that i now find myself shouting out into the abyss of this random website i stumbled across. not knowing if anyone will ever even see this, but i honestly don't care at this point im just over ignoring the gnawing urge whispering (now yelling) at me to put myself out there. despite this whole post reekinggggg of desperation, i swear im someone that has peace in their personal world of creative expression and growth no matter how unideal my circumstances are. im just very aware of the certain limitations that come with isolation and the certain freedoms that come when you push outside comfy ol'reliable, mr.solitary. i believe that collaboration with other creatives is a major key to inspiration, pushing boundaries, raw vulnerability, and elevating self: ingredients that produce truly delicious art. anyways, if your seeing this and agree with any of it or wanna support my art or wanna talk about cool shi etc. don't hesitate to interact, i swear im a kind person that just has a deep love for all art/creative expression and those who love it too (i say in hopes of not sounding extremely cheesy and creepy) :) xoxo, everywhere

there's plenty of things i love about this platform. one of my favorites is the fact that it quite literally can keep me entertained for hours because someone posts one of their niches and i then fall in a rabbit hole on that topic. also i love listening to the artists y'all recommend because then i can expand my music taste quite a lot. you guys are cool <3

I feel like there’s a special connectivity on this app that I haven’t felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010’s tumblr. The fact that you can’t promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isn’t mass video content like Tik Tok is great. It’s not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup). Thanks for your participation on this niche little app. I smile reading all the recs and all the comments and all the asks. Hope we’ll all be here for a long time.

Not only did we successfully meet for drinks, but we also schemed the hostile takeover of this app from tyler tonight. In all seriousness — weird that an app I downloaded in April would make genuinely want to drive back into Brooklyn during end of day traffic for a happy hour. Great app filled with great people.

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. It’s made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love. I just never thought I’d feel the same way about URL friends. I’m constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed. It’s nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. I’m going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
