I try to listen to instrumental music and read or journal on the train. Threw this on this morning and really liked it. toe is a Japanese Math Rock/Post Rock band with a lot of shimmering clean guitar and drums really forward in the mix. Perfect music to throw on, disassociate and do something else

depending on the kind of work i find instrumental sounds to be best , especially if there’s a rhythm i can lock into . there is love in you by four tet is a classic that i listened to a lot in uni , great tones for working steadily the book about my idle plot on a vague anxiety by toe is also full of beautifully circular but forward moving rhythms & songs , would be good if you’re into emo kinda math rock suicide season by bring me the horizon is in a different direction but sometimes i just love having a lot of noise going on while i'm working , every time i die albums & garden of delete are good for this too last suggestion is just taking one song that’s been stuck in your head & listening to it 100+ times on repeat until it becomes meditative & almost meaningless & continue until your work is done … did this a lot for last minute essay writing

I listen to ambient music when I read, I find it helps me tune out distractions in my own head and helps me focus. linked my reading music from today

listening to this on public transit or on my walk to work or when I get home from work or when I’m reading fiction or when I want to listen to some sounds and some beats Exactly the right sonic texture to overlay with ambient city noises + also happens to trigger my hyperfocus

Its a web app that people submit 1 song per week and then everyone gets to vote on the all the different songs but their own. After all the rounds have been completed, the person with the most votes wins! Its a fun way to share music with people and get competitive. Been using this app with other online communities and friends for a few months and have really been enjoying it. NOTE: I created a PI.FYI League where the first submission is this friday. I limited it to 25 people for now not sure if I should open that up to more but it would be pretty overwhelming to have more than 25 songs to listen and vote on.
