My dad put me on to Trust when I was in high school and itās been special to me ever since. We also rented Henry Fool from the local video spot and saw Fay Grimm in theaters together at the Angelika. These movies have a sensibility I really associate with him: poignant but lighthearted, experimental but still inviting, always intentional.
My dad loves ferris buellerās day off and oceans eleven. ive watched both upwards of a dozen times and can now quote them back and forth with him. Meanwhile, my mom loves pride and prejudice (2006) and four weddings and a funeral. Iām thankful for their interest in showing me movies when I was little and as Ive grown up.
my dad was super into mob movies and books and he showed me all the classics at like 11. very impactful on me and my taste. he had a thing for media like that, war movies and westerns too. he was just sentimental about guys doing crazy shit in the past lmao. thereās a lot of junk but thereās also a lot of gems. my all time favorite is Goodfellas which is a pretty standard pick but itās a classic for a reason.
ā¢Once Upon a Time In Hollywood w/ my brother in a theater full of elderly moviegoers who mustāve thought it was like golden age of hollywood kinda movie. we were hollering and hooting @ the home invasion scene. ⢠Interstellar in IMAX yesterday. never seen it before but I found god in that showing. I mean holy fuck. whole theater bawling our eyes out, guys next to me drank half a bottle of svedka it was a ride. ā¢Top Gun: Maverick on acid. brother I was in that movie I met Pete Mitchell he saved my life. ā¢Casablanca on NYE, also on acid. Acid didnt kick in until after the movie tho which was fine cus I initially hated Casablanca when I first watched it but something about seeing it in a theater made me do a complete 180 and I see it as one of the best movies ever made now. ā¢Wild at Heart on Valentineās Day with my BOYS. No better way to spend my Valentineās Day. ā¢Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, with my pops. we were the only ones in the theater and he was asking me questions like a dad does but it was actually kinda fun this time. I love da movies.
Instead of just meeting up for dinner or whatever they fit into the nooks n crannies of your day and itās like microdosing hanging out all the time again
We use eyemasks to block light and headphones to block sounds - use a roll-on essential oil under your nose and on your temples to block unpleasant smells, and thus unpleasant vibes. I like lavender for its calming effectšŖ»
Pop masterpiece that gets the energy up, makes everyone feel like theyāre in the driving around scene of a 90ās teen movie, builds to a huge falsetto finish. A mellower crowd would also resonate w āJumper.ā If you feel like they know the whole album, āLosing a Whole Yearā or āThe Backgroundā will body them.
