current obsession: The girls from Garabandal

Four girls in the 60's, were recipients of multiple messages coming from Virgin Mary as well as the Archangel Michael. They would get in a state referred to in Spanish as "Éxtasis", where they would feel an extreme sense of joy. The particular thing about them, is the fact that they would only look up, every time the girls were together with the apparition, in outstanding synchronicity. As if in a trance, the people were unable to make them budge or flinch. They would put lights on their eyes, move them around. They wouldn't blink. They would also walk backwards, all while moving at an abnormal speed and looking up. The first time I heard this story, it reminded of the girls from The Salem Witch Trials, but this is more whimsical. Linked above is the video of the girls in the state previously mentioned. To this day, people go to Garabandal in the hopes of feeling the miraculous presence the girls felt back then. Obviously there's some weird things about this that make me skeptical, but I still like the whimsy in this story ✝

My friend and I happened upon this. Meaning, strive to live your life in a way that makes you feel hot. Dress to feel hot. Talk to feel hot. Do whatever you do, but in a way that makes you feel like you're worthy of the love and adoration and crushes and desire you deserve. Side wound

Kind of a genre of medieval paintings, but confirms to me how horny people have always been and how we've always had to sublimate our desires into the dominant culture. It's so weirdly explicit and bizarre, and has so many layers in how it would have been used: a painting to look at, a page in a prayer book to speak as a script, a physical object to touch and venerate and meditate with.... like imagine people fingering this "wound" and being like, yes this is honestly totally about jesus. Crazy.
