OK I UNDERSTAnd how / why youâd feel that way but I think queer is maybe his best work and short and the most accessible and digestible IF you ever wanted to try again/ if you havenât read that already

the Peloponnesian war was a war between Athens and Sparta in the 5th century BC. Thucydides was a general of the Athenian army and he set out to write an objective and thorough history of the 21-year war. itâs very dense and matter-of-fact and intentionally doesnât have the kind of mythologizing and romantic aspects found in texts like the Iliad. itâs considered foundational to fields like military theory, philosophy of war, and international relations. Naked Lunch doesnât really have a clear linear plot, but much of it focuses on an opioid addict named William Lee and his experiences in a dystopian surrealist city called âInterzone.â Burroughs wrote this for his friends while addicted to oxycodone and living in the Tangier International Zone, and was mainly compiled by fellow beats Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac.
stories over time of a cast of characters loosely linked through the music industry In a post-modern style like not too dissimilar to vonnegut each chapter can be seen almost as a stand alone vignette edit: after re-reading your ask, Iâll admit not the weirdest book, but itâs also definitely not run of the mill narrative fiction. If you want weird, read Naked Lunch by William Burroughs. One of the most banned books of all time for a reason, grotesque, obscene, challenging, but imo definitely worth the read and Iâll be rereading it sometime. Helps to read along with a study guide to make sure youâre following whatâs going on.
