everyone’s (rightfully) loving two star and the dream police. and like i get it, the youngest child usually gets a lot of attention but what about the middle child? as much as i’ve played two star into oblivion, a museum of contradiction walked so two star could run. AMOC is the perfect bridge between his debut (which will always have a special place in my heart— i also highly suggest if you want something funky to get you moving) and his third album. “overtime (pt. 1)” and “isn’t it so convenient” will always be notable tracks to me— the former for it’s catchy, danceable nature and the latter for its honest, vulnerable lyricism and incredibly unique production. another standout, “western” is a groovy track that tackles existentialism. he tries on a lot of hats here. i think this had just as much going for it as two star…when it was released it felt like it could have served as his big break had the time been right, but thankfully his recent acclaim has made up for it. i highly urge for anyone’s first listen to be in order!
