I really love country when it sounds like this. Kacy & Clayton have some really great songs. Iāve linked one of my favorites called āIām gonna break itā.
Modern country thatās actually amazing. Itās the perfect mix of pop country. I recommend listening to the album Golden Hour (an album that even people who donāt like country music like.)
I'm admittedly not much of a "modern country" fan (it kind of reminds me of the worst of 80s rock with a southern accent applied), but Kacey is special -- a marvelous voice, terrific songwriter, someone who steers into the other lane to avoid cliche.
I used to spin every Weds night from 10 pm to midnight on KXSF.FM as part of an alt-country collective (five DJs total) called "The Barndance" -- we each had noms de country (mine was "Dustin T. Wind") and it was by far the most fun I've ever had selecting music and playing it on the radio. This is just one setlist from that era, lots of good choices (including another Kacey song, natch) and can still recommend the show: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/kxsf-barndance-april-28-2021/pl.u-kv9lbKdCW3PYM7

For whatever reason I keep posting and then deleting my recs immediately. Iāve gotten shy on here. I used to be so bold. I donāt know what happened !!!
Iām currently in the back seat of my friendās car listening to their future plans. Itās lowkey terrifying me. Howeverā¦.take this as your sign that you donāt have to know what you want. Youāre not alone!!!
