Thinking about the Polish father-daughter duo I meet after a Pavement show in Berlin. They were so so friendly, and so excited. The daughter told me whenever they wanted to go to a show they would borrow her Uncle’s car, drive halfway there; stay at the same old motel, then drive the whole way back after the show.

It’s soul healing I think. Went to see They Might Be Giants with my dad and cried at Birdhouse thinking about 8 year old me singing it with my dad. We‘ve also seen Belle and Sebastian and Yeah Yeah Yeahs together. He said we just need to see Avril Lavigne and Blondie now and we’ll have seen all the bands we used to cover when I was little (him on guitar me singing). Just go to gigs with your dad, the best gig companion.

So my dad ended up going to my gig the other night. So did my sister and my niece and ofc my girlfriend. My inner child was so happy.

🚗Had the last drive to uni drive with my dad today, it’s crazy that in 3 months I’ll be done with my degree and idk if I’m ready for that. The drive was good we just sit and talk about sports and listen to music, today we listened to This Is Happening by LCD Soundsystem (my favourite album, seeing them in June and I can’t wait) and Turn on the bright lights by Interpol (a album we listened to together during one of our trips in first year). I’m gonna miss it as it’s one of the only times I get to socialise with my dad, he’s not really a people person and works a lot of the time. To me those drives were a core part of my time at uni and was always something I looked forward to even if I was a bit hungover and stuck in a hot car for a few hours.
