I used to have sooooo much fear of needles but when I learned how important it is for people with traumatic injuries, burn victims, cancer patients, pregnant people and people with leukemia…. I push myself to do an uncomfortable thing for the benefit of others.

– a free checkup
– a blood test for various diseases
– free snacks
– an excuse to take it easy
– the tender realization of how wonderful it is that humans can share blood
– a reminder of your own mortality
– a reminder of the mortality of others
– you get the think about how hard your body must be working to make all this blood
And whole time you’re saving lives too!

i’ve made minor tweaks to the recipe i linked:
- add 2 cloves of minced/pressed garlic after the onions and celery have sweat
- add 1 tsp each of turmeric powder and cumin powder
- use both the zest AND juice of the lemon

for the last few years I’ve booked off work for my birthday and treated myself to a me day. this consists of scheduling a massage or facial (truly the best), splurging on a nice lunch and dessert, and sometimes a movie!

honestly one of my favourite ways to eat eggs. the recipe works fine even if you sub the milk bread for whatever bread you usually have (but milk bread makes it 10x better). you can’t sub the kewpie mayo tho srry i don’t make the rules.
