a youtube channel in which an absolutely psychopathic australian engineer creates insane contraptions that frequently threaten to maim or kill him. highlights include a beyblade powerful enough to destroy a house, a pool stick with the power of a sniper rifle, and a robot that you put up your ass to help you cheat at chess. absolutely a+ content, highly recommend

probably the best let’s play series on YouTube. Incredibly chill japanese guy (English subs don’t worry) plays through Minecraft for the first time with zero tutorial or outside help. as such he really reignites the magic that we all felt playing the game for the first time, the apparent mysteriousness and endlessness of its world becomes real again. on his adventure he decides that the goal of the game for him is to just travel in one direction, building a massive 1-block bridge across the entire world. his bizarre dedication to this goal eventually overtakes the entire series, which, in a world where Minecraft let’s play content is so focused on beating the game in essentially the same way (often in the most heavily optimised speed run route possible), is a reminder of the game’s true sandbox nature. Also the guy is the creator of some of the internet’s most famous viral horror videos, e.g. username666, which basically invented analog horror as a genre

I watch a lot of random stuff on YouTube—crunchy gori gori foot reflexology, makeup tutorials (preferably featuring drag queens), noisy chiropractic adjustments—oh and the occasional food video, too. Recently The YouTube algorithm goddesses decided I would like to watch a competition-elimination show about butchery, and they were right! This extremely niche show on the History channel is shockingly entertaining? If you like watching animals being disassembled, that is!

spent the last two weeks working on an interactive guide, recommendations database, and digital library (link depot) to help get people off of social media. the first draft is done now, and it's at the link to this post. it's still very much a work in progress (the library is especially thin atm) - which is why i wanted to share it here before unleashing it upon my IRL friends and the general public. i welcome any and all feedback, bug reports, and suggestions for things to add. i will be pushing updates to it out like a madman in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back every so often to see new additions to the database and library. additionally, i am still on the hunt for newsletters from local venues / community organizations / magazines / newspapers, etc. the only cities i have remotely covered so far are nyc, orlando, denver, brisbane, and little bits of worcester and chicago. if you know anything in your area that fits the bill, send it my way!
