as we're transitioning into fall and as weather is getting colder, i've taken the warmer clothes and the sadder records out the closet and this is one of them... i especially love 'hard rain' and 'utopia'. i find this album so poetic, so raw, and just all around perfectly executed.

i know it's august, but it's so easy for me to slip into a gloomy fall mood any time of year and as such, i've had this song on repeat.
i'm a big sucker for strong lyricism and this song is no exception. the fact that she takes you on this journey about the death of a relationship she's in by literally opening the song with "Pull the plug in September, I don't wanna die in June" is so poignant yet beautiful.
ALSO, the gunshot right after she says "I'll hang on 'til the chaos is through" is perfectly incorporated and really the cherry on top given the subject matter of the song.

there is something so cool about this unspoken juxtaposition rule in the more psychologically volatile genres, where the lyrics are bleak and anxious, always tapping into darker territory, but the melody remains beautiful and oddly comforting. i have been re-looping lots of carissa’s wierd - songs about leaving lately, and now this thought refuses to leave me alone. idk!!!! it’s just such a common case where something viscerally crushing happens to produce the most tender and fragile sounds, and i know it is a bit of a cornplate-level observation, but i have been pondering a lot about this

stop going to Starbucks or McDonald's! delete X/Twitter and start posting on here or on Bluesky instead! stop legally streaming HYBE or SM Entertainment or any K-POP companies that refuse to see their artists as humans worthy of rights in the workplace! switch from Spotify to Apple Music or any other service that pay their artists more! we have so much power why do we forget
