Yesterday in a response to a "what is your most recent camera roll photo" ask I shared a random picture I'd taken for the purpose of turning it into a custom app icon using the iOS Shortcuts app. (The link on this rec is to a YT video for how to do this.) I've been slowly changing my phone icons to photos I've taken. Here's where I'm at right now:
VLC āĀ a folded piece of paper on an orange notebook Audible ā the corner ofĀ an orange plastic comb thing PI.FYI āĀ A paper star cut out with a razor blade Voice Memo āĀ An unflattering picture of me superwhisper āĀ The top of a spice jar of cinnamon (this one is my favorite...I wanted it to look like a record button!)
Every time I look at these particular apps, I feel a little spark of creative joy.
...I'm not rushing into this, just keeping my eyes open and letting the muse find me.
This is my Audible app icon ā I donāt even know what the orange thing is, found it in bathroom Have been taking pics of real world objects and then using iOS shortcuts to replace normal app icons
other than PI.FYI (and letterboxd) of course⦠how we feel
as someone who isn't the best at using words to express her feelings to someone verbally, i really enjoy using this app to log my emotions and subtly sharing it to the two people in my friends list collective
intended to be a safe space for the lgbtq+ community, itās not just a social media app. thereās no need to maintain a following or aesthetic, and itās place to share your life with the intentions of making connections paired
i havenāt used many couples apps, but i love how interactive this one is. everyday, you either answer a question or take a quiz with your partner and as scary as it can be being honest with some really personal questions, itās fun learning about one another. it also keeps a streak as an incentive to do it daily, which i appreciate with my goldfish memory lapse
its literally a film camera on your phone and you get to wait for your photos to develop. i love an affordable film photography simulator
a friend just messaged me āyou and your apps, you should have an app to recommend all your appsā and I realised that yeah I really do love a good app. I may do separate posts for apps in the future, but apart from the obvious ones (Insta, Spotify etc) here are some of my favourites: PI.FYI
Notion
Letterboxd
Natural Cycles
Planta
Shuffles
Swipewipe
Borrow Box
GG
Serialisd
Substack (love substack notes as a Twitter abstainer)
Heads Up
this is worthy of celebration:Ā the lack of videoāautoplay video, noisy inane video, panicky video, algorithmic, dumb video, rabbit hole video, any videoāon pi.fyi is a good thing
