I love going to an expensive coffee shop to cosplay as a hard worker because performative focus when coupled with noise dampening/cancelling headphones is the fastest track to real focus I’ve gotten. see below for my most recent study outing while I wrote a lil ethics paper with a $6 iced coffee

I typed this as I was working in a coffee shop. Idk, there’s something really under appreciated about working in a coffee shop. You can people-watch and it’s meditative af. Two of my favorite things in one. Plus a little drink and a snack whenever you want.

i like to observe my surroundings and think about what to write while i’m in a different place than when i started writing. like i can never concentrate when i‘m in my room. i’m a journalism major so that means i’m writing a lot, and when i would get writers block with my stories, i would go to my favorite cafe, order a matcha latte and a sweet treat, turn on some good music to romanticize the moment, and then the words would just come to me. sometimes i would just go to the library or move from my desk to the couch if i couldn’t make it to a coffee shop. a change of scenery just works for me!

I was going through the Ignatian approach to education today (adapted from the Spiritual Exercises for those keeping track at home) and this tenet is just so good.
St. Ignatius says that a person, “ought to be more eager to put a good interpretation on a neighbor’s statement than to condemn it.Further, if one cannot interpret it favorably, one should ask how the other means it. If the meaning is wrong, one should correct the person with love; if this is not enough, one should search out every appropriate means through which, by understanding the statement in a good way, it may be saved.”
This is very Hanlon’s razor (never attribute to malice what you can attribute to stupidity/ignorance) and I just feel like having a curious posture like this is a major slay and makes us better people

Like look at this shit. Just kinda sick tbh. The Eastern church invented maximalism which is just very slay for them (even if you aren't into God or whatever I feel like you can enjoy old buildings with tons of art everywhere)
