I told a friend my plans for an upcoming sunday ā to explore red hook, get key lime pie, and watch the sunset. she replied āOoO how romantic!ā and it reminded me that I donāt need a partner to live a romantic life. the way I spend my time is fucking romantic! Iām romantic! how beautiful.

Now that Iām single again, Iām having a party for my friends and making little goodie bags and just trying to make everyone feel loved on the 13th, since thereās so much emphasis on romance. It shouldnāt be any more romantic for couples than any other day of the year; it should be an excuse to do it one extra time, or go just a little more all out. Itās an excuse to do what you already want to for your person/people.

My partner & I canāt afford to do anything or go anywhere this year for Valentineās Day, but that doesnāt mean I canāt still spoil him; I drew us a portrait (referencing Klimtās The Kiss), I made him a lil playlist of songs that remind me of us, & for dinner tonight Iām gonna be re-making the first meal I ever cooked for him (after we started dating).
& it doesnāt have to be for Valentineās, or even a romantic partnerāmaking anything for any loved one is just so special in & of itself, no matter the occasion. Show your love while weāre all still here.š¤
