A must watch when I’m sick. So creative that it barely watches like a comedy special in the traditional sense. Highly recommend!

James’ comedy ventures unapologetically into the realm of fiction which gives him permission to be silly, creative, and quirky in a really refreshing way. He doesn’t get caught up in being ‘relatable’, but just entertaining. No one is doing it quite like him.

James Acaster (v quirky and unconventional, but top tier imo) Michael Che Mae Martin (also less conventional, almost more of a story teller approach) Saw someone mention Nate Bargatze, excellent deadpan You may also enjoy Neal Brennan, used to write for Chappelle’s Show

The sheer amount of standup specials, YouTube/IG/TikTok stars, etc. oversaturate our brains, and I think it dilutes our experience. This is surely true of music for me lately - I need breaks from new things pretty often. I think another symptom of it being so abundant is the more you've seen, the harder it is to be surprised by new styles and personalities. I've been a life-long standup fan for as long as I can remember, and gimmicks and fads have always been a thing. But still, every year, something new grabs my attention. It just takes some digging to find the people that tell the kind of stories that make you laugh. Here are some ones I really liked recently: Kyle Kinane - Dirt Nap Jacqueline Novak - Get On Your Knees Sheng Wang - Sweet & Juicy Brian Simpson - Live From The Mothership Chris Fleming - Hell (As mentioned in other responses, just the best kind of weird) Taylor Tomlinson - Look At You Nate Bargatze (any of his many on Netflix)

Sorry to use a pretentious word like cinephile, but it had to be done. This is for the friend groups who take forever to decide what to watch on movie night. Also, this app is very much for the chronically indecisive peeps who have a backlogged watchlist on Letterbox — I see you, I am you. I haven’t heard anyone talk about this free app, but it is essentially a site where you can keep track of movies/shows you’ve been meaning or wanting to watch. A Few Features I Like: - It can be set up to notify you when something on your list becomes available on any streaming platform you’re subscribed to - you can sort your list by exactly what you’re in the mood for (genre, length of film, decade of release) - easy importation of watch lists from other sites or sources (Letterboxd) - My FAVORITE part by far is the spinny wheel that helps you choose something to watch (either from your list, preferences, or what’s currently popular)
