This isn't an ad!!! I switched over to Capital One almost 10 years ago and haven't looked back. No foreign transaction fees and I rack up points quickly to cover my flights.
$395 annual fee is annoying until you realize that every year you get $300 credit booking any travel and 30,000 points. That’s like two trips basically for just having the card. Then you get free priority pass which gets you access to almost every lounge (especially internationally). When I was desperate for a shower before a 10 hour flight from Brazil, the lounge came in clutch.
Lots of deals through their travel portal too.
Truly not that hard to meet the limits and the benefits of the sign up bonuses take care of any annual fee you have to pay. Have taken many free flights with all my accumulated points!
Walk on the beach, pick up rocks. Hike, pick up rocks. Find a red, then an orange, yellow, green, and so on. It's very meditative and relaxing! Bonus points if you leave pretty ones somewhere for someone else to find.
