FROM THE DAY MY SISTER WAS BORN

Walking back to the car with my grandpa in the Walmart parking lot. We were buying a bunch of Mylar balloons to bring to my mom in the hospital.
I remember really thinking the balloons were fun to look at, and I liked the way they crinkled together when the breeze hit them right.

the night my brother was born

i was at my grandparents', watching carebears with them. i was wearing a floral nightie, that never reappears in any other memories. i was utterly distraught, grandma gave me a peppermint tea.

WATCHING THE NEVERENDING STORY WHILE MY MOM WAS IN LABOR

I was 3.5 when I became sentient, I had just been dropped off at my mom’s best friends house while my parents headed to the hospital to deliver my sister.
there are spurts of memories that fade in from there on, playing house under palm trees in Cali, getting pinched by a sand crab at daycare, summers at my grandma‘s farm.
