First one is the ultimate gaming device for me. Portable (unlike Switch which is ""portable"" - if it doesn't fit into cargo pants and I have to worry about screen it's not portable) Recently I found an old 35mm camera and maaaan... it feels so different from modern cams and phone. I love it when videos I make take some physical space plus having a 30m limit makes you think about what you really wanna capture. And the look is so nostalgic.

got a $40 digital camera bc i kept running out of storage on my phone. it is so fun and the quality isn't perfect, but it is nostalgic and dreamy, and shoots well in bright light. at some point having every function in one device became, somehow, addictive AND boring. more dedicated media devices in 2025!

i've always wanted to tote around a camera with me with the intention of taking more pictures. for awhile that was my grandma's vintage kodak cameo, but then developing film became so much more expensive and i stopped. i didn't necessarily want a 2000s digital camera because having screens to look at in a camera makes me feel unecessarily judgy of myself? 😭 i found out about this by accident through an ad on reddit and i was really taken in by it having the uncomplicated energy of a film camera but the convenience/cost saving of digital cameras. i've had this for about 3 months and i love it. i actually remember to snap quick photos but i'm not staring at the screen contemplating whether or not my teeth look weird. it's sturdy too! my clumsy self has dropped it in my rocky backyard.

Modern cameras are marvelous and one of the most beautiful ways to demonstrate something visually. However if you want to not only show something, but capture a feeling and memory, there’s nothing better than the earthly feel of an old camera.

I learn new language and don't allow myself any mail/social media/messages before doing my Anki. I start my days feeling more refreshed and accomplished knowing I actually did something for myself first thing in the morning. It doesn't have to be language learning, but whatever you like. Yoga session, new show episode, breakfast, journaling. Just no FOMO and mindless scrolling to start your day.

It's been so long since I wrote a physical letter but I had a few pen pals (even international) when I was young and it was so fun, I remember it fondly. We should bring back the excitement of finding a letter in a mailbox instead of "ugh" while seeing another notification of an unwanted DM
