Nothing new for fans of niche fragrance but damn! How does she do it. Just got limited edition halloween scent Be Very Afraid, inspired by Cronenbergian horror. This shit really smells like tv static, it’s awesome. Imagine Etat Libre Dā€˜Orange Ghost in the Shell but with musk and skin (and sillage). I could also write volumes on Bread and Roses, both a perfect floral and a perfect gourmand, reinvigorates what a gourmand can be, bury me in Bread and Roses.

i don’t even wear perfume, but i follow audrey robonovitz’s perfume blog. she does not stick to the mainstream: the standout article for me has been ā€œthe smell of fear: sweat, vomit, funerals, and other perfumed hauntingsā€ which is exactly as wild and compelling as it sounds (i’ve linked it in this post). her prose is a real treat and she explores kinds of perfume i can barely even conceive of, yet alone witnessed

Being an Aquarius has its perks — I discovered two indie brands this year that quickly became cult favorites. My top picks include Pearfat Parfum, Clue Perfumery, and Odette Parfum, with two of them based in Chicago. Recently, Odette and Pearfat launched a "Red Shoes"-inspired perfume, Le Chaussons Rouges, in November, and it’s set to restock soon. It smells like eating cinnamon sticks while painting in your 1st-grade art class, with notes of gingerbread, red paint, dahlia, candied ginger, and saffron. I just can't stop sniffing.

These are the most French perfumes you can possibly imagine: niche and completely over-the-top in terms of scent, price, and packaging (sorry, flacons). They have a collection of perfumes inspired by paintings, which are printed on the bottle. For other scents, you can replace the cap—which I think must always come with a tassel around the neck—with a small classical bust, which I believe is also theoretically aligned with the perfume’s notes. This costs an additional 100+ euros or something, so I did not do it on my bottle of Invasion Barbare, which I bought only partly for the name. It makes you smell like George Clooney and stays on for about 20 hours.

the best creative writing on the internet is on fragrantica.com
I could spend upwards of 3 hours scrolling through this website. I’m so obsessed with finding perfumes with notes I like (at the moment my favorites are bubblegum, sea water, and incense). I like to go to Scentbar (strictly the Hollywood location) and hand them my phone and show them all the perfumes on my Fragrantica account that I want to smell. I knowwww a scentbar employee hates to see me coming
