i have never been able to edit my poems successfully until I realised I needed to print them out on paper and scribble over them with a coloured pen. editing on your computer is soulless and never works!

I need to remember this 🙏 🕯️— every time i print a zine and sit down and read it and notice 30 spelling mistakes that were invisible on my laptop

I'm one foot in hell and one foot out due to awful handwriting: I sadly type first drafts of poems. I find it impossible to read poetry on a computer screen and I always revise and provide feedback in pen

Yes! I'm constantly printing everything, especially my stuff in need of an edit. Genuinely have even considered a portable battery powered printed to take with my while traveling so I can always get those words out in physical form. (One of the lost benefits of the typewriter era!)

taterhole handwriting or notes app are the only way. but for some reason my brain for a while didn’t see editing as the same creative process as writing in the first place? A mistake!

mouse so true I do write many of my drafts in the notes app. I’m an edit as I go kind of person and when I write poetry there are sooo many scribbles redactions and arrows with bubbles where I add things lol it’s a mess and it does not work for prose…

if i'm not on a time crunch, i will always try to hand write the first draft of all my creative writing projects. this makes me take it slower, think more about the words i'm putting down. it also acts as the first round of editing whenever i type it into my computer so i'm one step closer to a finished project. there's some so much more satisfying about being able to look at the progress made on a story that is hand written rather than typed in a computer.

I've spent so much time on the computer, that sometimes I forget what it's like to write on paper

yes typing is easier but to draft out a poem first go in poor handwriting on a tiny notebook you’ve used for years is a godsend

They look like alien plants and the bees fucking love them and they propagate themselves so easily. You plant one and next year you’ll have 10.
