I was OBSESSED with this YouTube video, and pretty much any early Neil Cicierega project. I got into his channel around 2012, when I was like 11-12 years old. This one really stuck with me, because I took it upon myself to memorize the entire thing, even though it's mostly just a list of big long dictionary words set to song. In 9th grade, my English teacher assigned us to read song lyrics in front of the class as if they were poem, and I chose this one. I heavily relate to that clip of Daniel Radcliffe saying he loves to memorize long, complicated passages of things. I also memorized Neil's Toy Food song, which was kind of the same concept except he was holding up pieces of toy food and naming them. I cannot BELIEVE this video is nearly 20 years old now.

definitely not the first video i ever watched on YouTube, but it's one of the first ones i can remember. my friends and i were obsessed with singing this in the back of their mom's van during elementary school, and i found a paper in one of my old school folders where i had written out the lyrics so we could remember them. to this day, i am still chasing the feeling that the friends making this video must have had. CORE MEMORY !!

I love doing collages, cuz all you really need are magazine cutouts and glue. There's a very low barrier to entry, skill-wise AND supply-wise, unlike painting. Digital collages are fun too, but I try to have less screentime by doing the paper ones. If I want to re-use pieces instead of gluing them down permanently, sometimes I'll just take a picture of the current arrangement to immortalize it, and then start over on a new composition. That way, I don't have to constantly buy new magazines to get new cutouts. This is one of my favorite ones I've done so far:

I was on the zine team for my college's local student-run magazine last year and it was so much fun! We each got assigned to make a mini-zine that captured the behind-the-scenes process for the magazine photoshoots. My zine was centered on the "Bite The Hand" shoot. The props team 3-D printed a hand to put in a punch bowl & the styling team decorated the models' hair with candy. We had a launch party for the mini-zines & everyone's turned out so good!
