I have so many mixed feelings about Miami but currently the first things that come to mind are that song, Spanglish, driving a really long time just to see friends and endless traffic, guava and cheese pastelitos, bath and body works lotion and how my grandma would apply it to her hands every time she washed them so her skin wouldnât dry out, loud gossip trains that you hoped werenât about you, getting publix subs before going to the beach and savoring every bite, driving with the windows down on the rickenbacker causeway on the way home from the beach and enjoying that really tired half baked feeling from lounging in the sun and water all day, sweaty sweaty winters, sweatier summers, and somehow everyone youâve ever met in your life knowing each other too
Ay Ay Ayyy I will Voooote!!!
(But not actually)
My momâs side of the family is Cuban and I know exactly what you mean. Maybe not the Miami specific stuff cause Iâm from SoCal but the Cuban-ness of it. It just hits me a specific way and reminds me of most of my extended family and my grandma especially. Also kinda reminds me of the way I LoveHate Lin Manuel Miranda. It just has the opposite politics of that.
I took it in a canon rebel g that I was lucky enough to find at an estate sale for about $20 and itâs by far my favorite pic Iâve ever taken! I think the film is like fujifilm ISO 400 or something idk but I love the colors it brings out
