when i was first cooking up ideas for pi.fyi i talked to publicannouncement who told me to try sketching on huge 11x17 paper and i never looked back f*ck figma (kidding...we love figma here) but quickly sketching rough ideas on this notepad with a blue sharpie is how i test out new layouts, concepts, etc. Gamechanger! and even if you don't need to draw large scale mock-ups it's great to write a huge to-do list on lol
pen to paper first! then I bring things online. I keep daily journals that really helps me get everything out in front of me, and then I can figure out how to create it digitally!
the crucial thing here is it has to be a really pleasant little notebook. you have to enjoy the experience of scribbling in it. i have three for different idea styles and they each provide a writing situation i get actively excited to experience. like ooh i hope i get to use my dream journal this morning… ooh hope i have a cool idea about art on the bus… etc etc
