pulled up to the public lib on a beautiful fall saturday (as everyone should) when low and behold my vibes were shot down by a bunch of MAGA schmeat riders voting early at the library… rocking red hat and corny ahh trump tees. come on bro that’s like wearing a t shirt of the band to the concert! no drip son ‼️💀💀💀
i just went to my first punk show in my city, since a friend of mine’s band was playing and he invited me. it was at 8pm at a coffee shop, and i felt very out of place at first among these people who are so much more incredibly cool than me. then, the music started, and i realized that i was headbanging just like everyone else. girls asked me to hold their things when they went to mosh, and i helped people up off the floor when they fell in the pit. it was a very unifying experience and i met lots of real weirdos (which i love). highly recommend
All of these are from seeing the bands play live! I’ve got a few more in my closet, but here are some favorites/ stories (in no particular order) - Fuming Mouth is fronted by the older brother of a high school classmate, so I got this shirt right when the album dropped!
- the Vein.fm shirt was from a benefit concert for the frontman of Fuming Mouth to help treat his leukemia (he has since made a full recovery!!), and it was also the second performance EVER for the band Fleshwater - I got a shirt from them as well, but an ex girlfriend has it
- GSY!BE (the green shirt) was the closest I’ve ever gotten to a religious experience at a show, I saw them in an old theater during a thunderstorm, absolutely stunning
- I lied, I never saw Mayhem live, but that shirt came from 666 records in Beijing, China - I begged my teacher to let me go there during a high school trip to China I was on, and it was 100% worth it!
- The Cryogeyser shirt was from her solo acoustic tour with Karly Hartzman of Wednesday, and the merch guy was Wednesday’s drummer!
recently visited the homie in DC and he cheffed me up a cold cut up honeycrisp apple from the fridge after a lowkey nonchalant run… man why have i been out here buying expensive ahh berries that go bad in 3 days when APPLES EXIST??? mfs are HARD 🗣️🫶🌳🍎
