firstly sorry for your breakup they truly suck :( i think the way i initially cope after a full-on or situationship breakup is by making a playlist so here are all of the most cry-able breakup songs that i can think of rn! i bet on losing dogs - mitski drunk walk home - mitski i don’t smoke - mitski i want you - mitski (and a lot of others, she’s got all the best breakup music in my book) night shift - lucy dacus bad religion - frank ocean ice is getting thinner - death cab for cutie no one’s gonna love you - band of horses lover, you should have come over - jeff buckley flowers - marina writer in the dark - lorde the night we met - lord huron + phoebe bridgers only when i - alice phoebe lou the blackest day - lana del rey dealer - lana del rey (warning that this is like, catastrophic category 10 breakup levels of sadness) get gone - fiona apple cellophane - fka twigs silver springs - fleetwood mac (versatile as this one can be something to cry to or something to yell lol)

some of these are probs repeats of what other people have said or what u alr listen to! indigo de Souza (personal fave songs: how I get myself killed, darker than death, 17) Adrianne lenker (both big thief and solo stuff, fave songs: zombie girl, steamboat) Samia (fave songs: something in the movies, kill her freak out) fka twigs (not really rock but I’m getting carried away. sadness of her discog varies. magdalene is an important album to who I am. fave sad songs are water me and home with you) skullcrusher (whatever fits together is one of my favorite songs ever) mitski (bury me at makeout creek is perfect to me) the album songs to break up to by ta-ku is more electronica than indie but it saw me thru some bullshit in the 2010s. snail mail (my fave song is speaking terms) the national is music for sad dads but theres some strong overlap there i think (fave songs: i need my girl, blood buzz Ohio, dark side of the gym) ok im sorry this is so long!! I love sad music!!

being traditionally cool is really quite boring and iterative, and it’s actually very cool and sexy to geek out about something you like or share bits of knowledge on a topic you’re passionate about

i had it for a little over a year until i was like wow this is actually terrible! i genuinely think it has negatively impacted society by ruining people’s attention spans, having a horrific algorithm, and most of all by the most mind-numbing or outright harmful trends - fake words that people now use IRL (ā€œunaliveā€), trad wife tiktok, shein hauls, body-focused fitness vids that encourage fatphobia and unhealthy habits, shallow political/feminist theory and queer discourse, ā€œalpha maleā€ podcaster tiktok, encouraging overconsumption in general, trends ruining local spots or niche things… the list goes on
