I realize it might not be cool to like Conor Oberst anymore - but this is a god-damn-beautiful no skip album for me. the transitions btwn Something Vague, Movement of a Hand, and Arienette is just nearly perfect. I dont even mind the self deprecating mock interview. UGH.

shlohmo - dark red

i come back to this album a lot in the late fall/winter. it’s full of bleak instrumental tracks with a lot of distorted drum machines, scuzzy guitars, and droning synths that pair really well with the landscapes of barren trees and gray cloudy days this time of year. the melodies are also really pretty, the last track Beams sounds like columns of sunlight peeking through clouds on a cold rainy day

such a gorgeous album, somewhere in between familiar shoegaze and UK trip hop. the siren vocals, the massive attack beats, the field recordings. perfect album. i’ll be at the philly ortliebs show end of march, probably solo probably weeping but in very dignified and compelling way
