ok i have revisited it since then but it’s been a while and when tristesse/joie came on in the natural wine bar the other night i suddenly regained my will to live and man this whole record fucking rips. i found it originally when MTV was featuring ‘je veux te voir’ nearly constantly in 2009. les femmes is also a really good song

good god if you can’t hear the last ten years of pop music blossoming so perfectly by her will. my ipod hated to see me coming for the digital drop. i do think the pop auteur thing continues to be such a wonderful look on her - she made the most perfect collection of contemporary pop music videos ever and now everything feels comparatively postmodern. and of course there’s lemonade... which i know fewer of you have watched than i’d care to admit. please go do that! it’s a totally different form, excellent in a distinct and singular way. alas. here lie the hits! a whole other language and one she breathes so effortlessly. do you have this in your itunes library? do you have history with this record?

very poppy this week- needed some serotonin that only revisiting my high school ariana obsession could get (the song successful off sweetener is so damn good). i’ve also been listening to my laurel canyon mix on spotify on the way to work in the morning and it sets such a good tone for my day. touchdown jesus is my friend owen’s band and you should check them out!

all you need is like 1-2 pages of text on paper, sometimes less. works every time. i used to swear by fiction but lately i’ve been reading a lot of “hard books” for example Concerning the spiritual in art by wassily kandinsky and Memories dreams reflections by carl jung and i think these work even better for sleepiness in the way they make me feel too stupid to be awake.
blue light from the phone/laptop etc will kill you
