1. Barnes and noble chocolate chip cookie (one of the best cookies ever, must be eaten warm!) 2. A movie that is on MY watchlist (no one I know has the same movie taste as me, it’s even better if I’ve seen it already) 3. Listening to vinyls (always feels like a nice little ritual, grounds me and makes me feel like a real person) 4. My favorite comfy pants (my mom bought me some light grey lounge pants from Maine and they have really cool pockets and are SO comfy) 5. Calico Critters (my absolute ultimate treat. I love the mystery ones so much. Always puts a smile on my face.)
• a new vinyl record for the collection • new clothes that you don't need (especially sneakers) • tickets to a concert or sporting event (NBA/NFL game or ATP/WTA tournament) • two packets of instant noodles because one isn't enough • dining out for a nice meal once a week (shit's expensive)
1. Long drives on quiet days. Gas is expensive, so I count this as a treat.
2. A Midnight Oil from Never coffee in PDX. I'm a sucker for licorice in unusual appplications.
3. A pint of cookies & cream ice cream.
4. Trying perfume in stores
5. Aromatherapy. S/O Mrs Meyers
Watched this movie every single weekend at my nana’s house because she had it saved to her dvr. Gave me an extreme desire for independence at a very young age (it has carried me through to today!) and inspired me to make pancakes (waffles) on my own every week as a spry 6 year old.
I allow myself to move through ny life at breakneck speed in order to get to the next “thing”— whether thats a job, life stage, relationship, goal, etc.. i have been doing this since I was 15. It wasn’t until this last summer/fall that I stopped to look around at the life I had built and fully feel everything! I enrolled in a grad program 2 years ago, at the encouragement of my partner, and this past fall I really started to see myself in this career. I feel energized by my work and research, I feel cared for by my department. I feel like a fulfilling career is awaiting me, yet I am taking the time to feel settled in my current service job and internship, careful not to rush past the mundanity and sweetness of my life now. I have everything ahead of me, truly what is my hurry?
