i love reading a book in a place that i've lived and it's clear that the author has also spent time there and it's so fun being reminded of places you know - came to mind bc i was reading yellowface and the main character lives in dc and there were a bunch of references to different dc spots which made me nostalgic for when i lived there

i'm grateful that where i live now feels like home, at the cost of not having an opportunity to return to my hometown since all my family and friends moved out. i wasn't a particularly social or nice child and i was an especially anxious teenager so i would say the thing that most comfortably reminds me of my hometown (which i think is what we're asking?) is usually an especially pretty and empty piece of nature surrounding some sort of suburban building. abandoned sheds, high school baseball fields, porches, the woods behind your house. and of course the games of my childhood: kingdom hearts 2, skyrim, mass effect 2.

this is something i should do much more of. every time i visit another city i scope out the best spots, hit all the sights, and pack in my days with fresh experiences.
once u live somewhere for a while u just kinda stop being excited and fall into a routine. there are still so many things i haven’t seen in nyc, and probably will never see, because 90% of my time is spent in my own neighborhood.

today someone told me something about myself and they were just so completely off base that i started questioning my tone and facial expressions bc that was in no way the vibe i was going for
