I’m not sure why this is rated so badly when I really enjoyed it. It’s a slow burn indie folk horror, it’s my favourite kind of horror when I don’t feel jumpy scared but a real lingering sense of dread. It’s also nice to see some gorgeous shots of Yorkshire.

It’s an Aussie movie set in Tasmania during initial colonisation. It’s brutal, less so on really heavy gore (though it’s definitely in there with the historical brutality and Aboriginal genocide) and all that fun stuff, but like, psychologically. Probably my favourite horror/thriller in recent years and my favourite Aussie one - but it’s a hard rewatch for me. No spoilers but I was just *drained* by the end of it. Like “oh. wow. well. that was good, but *god*.” Had to stay seated staring at the screen for a good while afterwards with teary eyes extra nominations: The Descent It Follows In A Violent Nature The Night House The Invisible Man Wolf Creek VVitch Suspiria (both) Revenge The Substance

Unequivocally the most harrowing film I have ever seen and I cannot get it out of my head…. Deeply disturbing , anxiety inducing, compelling, stomach churning. Shot and written with effective precision, without overkill or gratuitous exploitation. Movies about the human will to survive are hard to do without being either corny or played out and this does follow a similar narrative arc but I really appreciated how it was told. I recommend watching the little docu about the making of the film. I love production. Unbelievable true story and really compelling film

I expected this to be graphic considering its subject matter but it’s a purely psychological thriller with a twisted bent. This movie gave me chills and deeply unsettled me in ways I was not expecting!!! brilliant commentary on the nature of true crime content, with realistic depictions of technology… The lead is an incredibly fascinating and complex female character. highly recommend if you haven’t seen it…

I am by no means traditionally religious, but I fully understand how being in the presence of beautiful stained glass can feel like being with god. ALWAYS stop off at a church on the way if you think it might have good stained glass. The bluebells in the bottom right corner of this made me loose my breath for a moment.

I used to be envious of people who had “MySpace friends” or “tumblr friends”. Now I have PI.FYI friends. Thank you capyboppy for your lovely letter and this illustration of a capybara and a mouse with fruit on our heads, it made me weirdly emotional ❤️
