Shibuya-kei album from the 90s. Insanely cool, whimsical, and groovy. If you're a fan of the Japanese sub-genre of Shibuya-kei or just intrested in listening to some new music, I highly recommend it. Includes lots of sampling and takes inspiration from the Beach Boys, hip-hop, rock, chiptune, and a plethora of other musical genres. My favorite tracks on it are Mic Check and Count Five or Six. This album is a masterpiece! P.S. Fun fact: Cornelius' stage name comes from the Planet of the Apes character, Cornelius. His real name is Keigo Oyamada, one half of Flipper's Guitar.

the better the album cover, the better the music when it comes to this stuff. The Adventure of Kohsuke Kindaichi is one of the best examples. shy nervous dracula flute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-LZudHEk7k

this album :0 it feels like riding a bicycle in the summer by the river and then stopping at a bakery while wearing your favorite floral perfume. overall, very groovy, very happy, and very much for skipping and jumping instead of walking. It’s part of the Japanese shibuya-kei genre of music so a lot of inspiration from western music and 60s pop and a lot of cool guitar sounds :)

She's a textbook baddie in my book tbh. Her paintings are powerful, dramatic, emotional, and fierce. A lot of them center around powerful biblical women in representations that weren't common for the time (one of the most popular is Susanna and the Elders). I adore her representation of angry women <3 Self-Portrait as the Allegory of Painting (1638-1639)

thinking about Frankenstein as a story of birth, motherhood, & loss. really makes me rethink a lot that happens in the story & what Shelley was going through at the time. here's a link to a really cool article that discusses a lot of really neat reinterpretations of the novel.
