god damn I remember reading this novel and devouring every emotion the author created until it sent me to the verge or tears (multiple times) .. prayers to all in a reading slump this rec is real asf this is the one

Martyr! - kaveh akbar

i looked into this book after seeing faye webster’s recommendation about it on here, and i decided i should read it for myself. i’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately, but i’m happy to say that this pulled me out of it. the book is so beautifully written; it’s an interesting story with a very relatable protagonist, but there’s also so much to learn from it. i annotated it to pieces. i found myself talking about it in conversations, and it really made me reflect on some of my own thought patterns that are like cyrus’. i highly recommend it to anyone looking for their next read :).

Martyr! By kaveh akbar

I read this a few months back and with every new book I read all I can think is “you’re not Martyr!….”
This was just instantly one of my favourite books of all time. I love it so much just thinking about it makes me cry. Does Kaveh know what he did here??? He is the greatest. Cyrus Shams I love you so much.

This books makes you fucking feel life in full. So clever and beautiful. Mandatory reading. I learnt it by heart. I lost my only two friends because I couldn't stop talking about Martyr.
