There has been so many amazing albums this year I know I'm for sure forgetting some 1. Big Ideas- Remi Wolf If you were to ask me one artist that would show my vibe, it'd be Remi
2. The Accident-Good Morning This album just came out and it's all I've been listening to... it's already a life long favorite
3. Charm- Clairo This is the first and only album I've ever listened to, but it was a big one this summer. Up until then I literally thought she was a teenager.
4. Alligator Bites Never Heal- Doechii I think about her growls during her Tiny Desk concert multiple times a day
5. I Got Heaven- Mannequin Pussy I GOT A LOUD BARK, DEEP BITE!!!! 🗣️
6. I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair- Christopher Owens Beautiful sounds about love, what more could you want
7. News Of The Universe- La Luz Someone here recommended this album right when I joined... I don't remember who but thanks 🫶
8. New Sound- The Geordi Greep I Love Shaking Ass To Geordi Greep
9. Fruit for Flies- The Army, The Navy the HARMONIESSSS!!
10. Bodies Laughing- The Smile I'm a Radiohead girlie thru and thru, of course I loved this album Givens because you know why:
BRAT- Charli XCX
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess- Chappell Roan Honorable Mentions:
Ten of Swords- Mouse Teeth
American Football (covers)
Patterns in Repeat- Laura Marling
The man responsible for dozens of Teenage Symphonies to God
"Sad songs about happy things" (the first time, as a kid, I can recall the sweet/sour combo of melodies that could make you cry attached to songs about endless, bottomless love)
I've long since lost track of how many weddings and funerals I've attended that have featured this song; suffice it to say, "a lot."
God only knows what we'd been without him 🙏🏻
Hey tyler hopefully this doesn’t violate some PI.FYI golden rule
But after nearly two years of writing, editing and arguing, my book about the EP is coming out in May and can be preordered here: https://hozacrecords.com/product/aifl/ The book is about the origins, history and cultural impact of the EP since these little objects first started coming out in the 50s.
Over 50 of my music biz friends then helped me shape the list and review the top 200 ever released, according to us (ha).
For those of you who are into this kind of geekery/snobbery, I can’t wait to hear what you think. A labor of love, as all books are! ❤️
