The other day I was in a dressing room with my 3 year old daughter trying on dresses and was struggling with my zipper. She wanted to help and I wasnāt so sure it would work out. She rocked the task and was so proud of herself. AND I WAS SO PROUD OF HER. She also helped pick out which dresses I should keep. It was just one of those special moments and I keep thinking about it.š
Big Moments: * Birthing my daughter.Ā Ā Was it intense?Ā Ā Yes.Ā Ā But itās also insane feeling a baby exit your body⦠my husband and I sang āI like you as you areā to her while the midwife team was doing all their checks and what not.Ā Ā It felt very perfect and so different from my sonās birth. * Floating in the Nantucket Sound and feeling at peace, a marked difference from years prior when floating would send me into brief fight or flight. Also, just being able to swim in the ocean as much as I wanted for a few days. * My son starting preschool and LOVING it.Ā Ā We did a lot of preparation but I was still worried sending him off into the world without me.Ā Ā Itās been awesome to see how much heās grown in a positive way. I have had so many small moments over the past year that felt idyllic, and Iāve made a mental note to hold onto them.Ā Ā Small moments with my husband, kids, other family, friends.Ā Ā My day to day isnāt as expansive as it was in the past, but itās deepened.Ā Ā I love this stage of life.Ā Ā Itās full of so much love.Ā
Found this on X the other day, I donāt think Iāve smiled this genuinely while looking at a post! This has to be the sweetest thing a Dad can do and I cannot wait to have a daughter one day! :)
And by that I mean whole humans with their own views, preferences, ideas, beauty, personality. Even babies come out of the womb with their own unique energy, it's miraculous! I love getting to know my children. I love spending time with them. I miss them even when they're just sleeping upstairs. Of course I'm their parent and need to instill boundaries and what not, but I do think the way I inherently view them makes it easy for me to do so in a respectful and empathetic manner. What a gift it is to witness the world through their eyes. We really are all just wanting to be seen, loved, and respected. I love being a parent. I love working with kids. It really is an honor, for real.
