we have discussed this in the past, for sure, but in a close race alongside germany, the netherlands and iceland have to take the cake for me. i was fortunate enough to have gone to a high school that was big on international experiences due to our foreign exchange program, so through that i visited london, paris, and reykjavic. when my ex’s family lived in germany, it was easy to visit the surrounding countries + we did an amsterdam trip for his bday. its usually a shock to people w whom i discuss this that paris/london aren’t long-shot winners in my tourist rankings, but it’s not hard to believe that amsterdam’s culture and art and ARCHITECTURE and everything and everything and EVERYTHING?!!?! i would die a million times over to live out my life in that environment. however, while more impractical, reykjavik is surreal. nothing will ever compare to the landscape of iceland as is- it is something out of dreams and fantasies and product of everything good in the world. put a little artsy city right in the middle? absolutely insane. iceland story: when we arrived at our first hotel, we parked right in front of a museum with a bunch of… freaky, for lack of better phrasing, artwork and sculptures? our school’s beloved life science teacher took on the mission of translating: a school bus of 8th and 9th graders had parked in front of iceland’s penis museum.

My favorite place. My own little Oasis. The beautiful women. The leisure and the partying. I don’t know. I’ve been to Norway over eight times and the only thing I know how to say in Norwegian is, “I AM A JEW!” which I think works just fine. Oslo is beautiful and small enough to conquer in two weeks. By conquer I mean make yourself known. I like being a big fish in a small pond, I guess. My Oslo Picks:⁃Smalhans (delicious food)⁃Cemetery of Our Savior (I had sex here in the dead of night once and then broke my ankle by stomping on Munch’s grave)⁃Gapet (across from the graveyard and a really nice place to get drunk)⁃Izakaya (perfect date spot)⁃Litteraturhuset (great place to read and write)⁃Fretex (vintage chain that locals probably hate but that I always find good stuff in)⁃The Vigeland Park (incredible) (that said any and all of the parks in Oslo in the summertime are DREAMS)Favorite Norwegian People:⁃Kristoffer Borgli: the only living genius⁃August Bror’s clothes⁃IBSEN⁃Eirik Saether’s art⁃Joachim Trier’s movies

new york (greatest place on earth, still feels like home even though i haven’t lived there in almost 2 years. has everything. best part is brooklyn) london (where i live now, unique in that it’s got most everything new york does but bc it’s way bigger there’s so many peaceful pockets. weather sucks ass though, transit is really expensive, and the size works against it for walkability at times. best part is southeast) los angeles (driving is fun, weather is perfect, so many good places to eat, nice to be in space. traffic and size do get to be a pain in the ass though. best part is east/northeast) berlin (the new york of europe with worse weather and probably even nicer people. plus much cheaper. i like east but need to spend more time in diff areas) oakland (i grew up in berkeley. most underrated city there is. so beautiful, always has cool people doing cool shit. you prob need a car though and it’s highly dependent on who you know. best area is probably somewhere near the lake but not on the downtown side) paris (used to live there. overrated for sure, whole city is beige + everyone stinks + a lot of mean people all up in each others business + super slow unaware walkers, but on holiday it’s easier to just enjoy the beauty and there’s so many good restaurants. great biking city too. feels the least like a big city of the tier 1 spots. best part is where 11e and 20e meet near belleville) prague (so beautiful, so cheap, people are so nice, great food, literally the only thing is weather and language barrier at times)

i have such a hard time getting through movies, its brutal and unfortunate. i am fully aware im missing out on some critical pieces of art in consequence, but if isnt both predominantly psychological thriller and as quickly paced as oppenheimer, its super hard to keep me engaged. i will talk about this movie until the end of time. despite minimal dialogue and the most clinical atmosphere to be captured by means of cinematography, the lack of information and consequential unpredictability kept me thoroughly enticed and fully unnerved for the full two hours. minimalism weaponized for max intensity with no certain direction; epitomization of surrealist thriller. watching it for the first time without context nor any expectations is an invaluable experience.
